Wasted space

Competition “Appetizing Architecture”, nominated.
Organisation: BNA (Union of Dutch Architects) and Arcam (Architecture Centre Amsterdam).

The competition is part of the Dutch Architecture Weekend 2012 and calls for designers to make a creation about architecture and food.
We like to eat good food and build new attractive buildings. We prefer not to look back at what we leave behind. This model represents the amount of waste one family produces per month, at the same time it shows the 1,3 million square meters of empty floorspace in Amsterdam. What to do…?
An imaginary city of empty food packages, dimensions 4 meters x 6 meters, scale 1:200.
It catches both themes at once and gives a critical view on architecture and food.
